We Got You, Babe!

A warm breeze. Live music in Omaha’s most popular and scenic outdoor venue. Indulging in a cold drink while reclining in a roomy, cooler-than-cool, Adirondack chair.

It just doesn’t get any better.

Midtown Crossing is turning up the volume once again and you’re going to love it.  The Turner Park Patio, home to Smokin’ Oak Pizza, Proof, Ray’s Wings, Thirst Tea and The Empire Room, is ready for the season and bursting with color a new collection of eye-popping Adirondack chairs for all to enjoy and love.

Local creatives, artists, illustrators, and designers have been hard at work this spring turning plain colored chairs into works of art. Prepare to be dazzled.  Each chair highlights an Omaha destination or distinctive attribute.  Yes, you’ll see corn. Yes, you’ll see zoo animals.  You may even learn something about Omaha’s history along the way.

Sponsored by Omaha Steaks, and in collaboration with Visit Omaha, this community art project celebrates not only visual art, but also the richness of our community – our heritage, our backbone, and our landmarks.  South Omaha, West Omaha, North Omaha, Omaha’s Old Market. Sculptures, trains, elephants, agriculture, diversity of thought. This is who we are.

These chairs represent who we are as a community. Where we’ve been and what we celebrate.

And, best of all, these chairs, now on display throughout this urban patio, allow us to sit. Relax. Enjoy a cool drink with friends on the patio while listening to smooth jazz in the park.  They allow us to put our work aside and enjoy time with friends and family.  They allow us to explore and imagine.

A community that sits at the intersection of everything Omaha, you’ll find a few surprises when you stop over to see these works of art. Fajitas at Pa Mas Taqueria and Grill, for example.  Seriously, the best Old Fashioned in the state of Nebraska at Proof, wings at Ray’s that will make your taste buds come alive.  And did we say pizza?  Smokin’ Oak’s wood-fired pizza will just make you smile.  Smokey Dokey?  And don’t forget the boba tea at Thirst Tea Café. Boba, you say?  Come and see what all the fuss is about.

Walk around. Explore. Enjoy the tunes. Indulge in an ice cream cone at Cold Stone Creamery.  Dough for it!

This is what summer is all about.  This is what you’ve been waiting for.  This is your time to unwind.  Recalibrate.

Go ahead, have a seat.

And don’t forget the ice cream cone.
