Midtown Crossing’s popular End of Summer Concert Series, presented by the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), will showcase a range of musical talent – from an American Idol contestant to a cherished Omaha institution – in this year’s dynamic, “something-for-everyone” lineup.
Held on six consecutive Friday evenings, the End of Summer Concert Series will launch on August 23 with audience favorite Billy McGuigan and his high-powered tribute to some of rock’s greatest legends.
The rest of the lineup features:
August 30: American Idol contestant Tim Halperin
September 13: Opera Omaha
September 20: Chris McCarty
September 27: The Sugar Thieves
“We are extremely excited to be sponsoring the End of Summer Concert Series at Midtown Crossing. We are eager to have each of our colleges and areas of academic emphasis represented at each of the shows. Our faculty, staff, and students are looking forward to enjoying the great lineup of musicians,” said UNO Chancellor John Christensen.
All performances are free to the public with the venue opening at 5 p.m. Musicians and performers from UNO will serve as the opening act each night beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the headliner taking the stage around 7 p.m.
This is UNO’s first year as series sponsor.
“This year’s acts are all excellent and so diverse that anyone can find a reason to come out and enjoy a night of music and entertainment,” said Emily Poeschl, UNO associate director of marketing.
The performers will make use of the iconic new Pavilion in Turner Park and its permanent stage. Funded by private donations through the Omaha Community Foundation, the Pavilion debuted with the start of Jazz on the Green on July 11.
